Typhoon survivors in central Philippines send aid to Luzon disaster victims

Various donation drives have been launched by the people of Easter Samar for the benefit of typhoon victims in Luzon

Residents of Eastern Samar in the central Philippines who were severely affected by typhoon “Ambo (Vongfong)” in May are sending donations for typhoon victims in Luzon.

The Diocese of Borongan has already sent monetary donations to various dioceses in Luzon that were devastated by the recent typhoons.

Bishop Crispin Varquez of Borongan said the initial collection from various parishes, groups, and individuals was divided equally among seven badly affected dioceses.

Also, a group of students from the city of Borongan has been conducting a donation drive for typhoon survivors in the provinces of Cagayan and Isabela.

Dubbed “Bulig Este,” the students accept cash, food, and in-kind donations that will be forwarded to another group that will take charge of relief distribution.

An association of photographers in the city has been selling photographs to raise money to send to the disaster victims.

Smaller groups, like the “Porteza Brothers” of Oras town, are conducting “online concerts for a cause” while a group of young professionals in Borongan launched a “Cookies For A Cause” campaign.
