Thousands of people were left homeless after heavy rain and strong winds brought by typhoon “Ulysses” (international name: Vamco) battered the Philippine capital on November 12.
Houses were submerged and thousands of Filipinos were stranded on rooftops. Many were stranded with elderly, children, and pets. Some were rescued on rubber life boats.
The hashtag #RescuePH trended on social media, with people posting their whereabouts and contact details, begging for help.
Power to millions of households was cut and public transportation was stopped as “Ulysses,” the third typhoon and the fifth tropical cyclone to affect the Philippines in less than three weeks,” lashed the capital.
