Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle blessed a bio-molecular laboratory of the Philippine Red Cross in Mandaluyong City on October 8, two weeks after her recovered from COVID-19.
The cardinal also had a “swab test” at the new facility as a requirement before he flies back to Rome.
The prefect of the Vatican’s Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples thanked the Red Cross personnel for their service and prayed for their health and safety.
“I am very proud of what you do. It is important that [patients] feel the care, that they are not just a case, but they are human beings,” the cardinal was quoted as saying.
The cardinal tested positive for COVID-19 upon his arrival in Manila from Rome on September 10. He recovered two weeks later, and was released from quarantine.
Senator Richard Gordon, chairman of the Philippine Red Cross, wished Cardinal Tagle good health on his return to his duties at the Vatican.
“I wish Cardinal Tagle good health and more strength with each coming day, and guidance from our Lord as he continues his mission to the Vatican,” said the senator.
