Catholic faithful in Aklan hold exhibit of images of saints amid pandemic

The exhibit aims to keep the faith alive among Catholics especially during the pandemic

A group of Catholics in the central Philippine province of Aklan launched an exhibit of images of saints to inspire the faithful amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The exhibit, which will run until September 20, displays 46 life size images of saints that are mostly used during annual Easter rituals.

“We are supposed to do the exhibit during Easter but it was cancelled because of the pandemic,” said Marsh Bernabe, president of the Confraternity of Señor Sto. Niño of Aklan.

“We decided to push through this week in time for the feast of the Sorrowful Mother on September 15,” he said.

The province also marked the feast of the “Victory of the Cross” on September 14.

The province of Aklan has now 11 active cases of the new coronavirus disease.

“The exhibit hopes to keep the faith alive among Catholics especially during the pandemic,” said Bernabe.
