The Diocese of Kalookan has established a hotline for people who need spiritual guidance or who want to consult with a mental health expert.
Bishop Pablo Virgilio David of Kalookan said the diocese is introducing an online “psycho-spiritual interaction” to address the rising number of mental health issues.
During the pandemic, the prelate said stress, depression, domestic abuse, and trauma are all increasing, “now the Church needs to be there to address such issues.”
Dubbed as “hope line,” the program is under the “ministry of accompaniment” of the diocese that aims to mobilize priests and volunteers to provide counseling to people suffering from mental health problems.
The prelate assured the public that the Church’s pastoral work will continue despite the limitations due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Bishop David said the diocese is strengthening its social communications ministry that will serve as the primary medium to conduct seminars and formations through teleconferencing apps.
