THE Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene reopened its doors on June 5 after almost three months of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Father Douglas Badong announced that the basilica, popularly known as the Quiapo church in Manila, will allow up to 50 devotees at a time to enter and pray inside.
The priest said devotees will only be given five minutes to stay inside the church to give chance to other devotees waiting outside.
“There will be only one entrance and one exit door,” said the priest.
Church workers will be present to remind devotees of proper physical distancing and other health protocols.
The parish has also installed a misting tent in front of the church where medical workers check devotees before entering.
During the celebration of Holy Masses the church will be closed and devotees will have to wait until the celebration is finished before they can enter.
Father Badong said they cannot allow people inside the church during Masses because of the prevailing “general community quarantine” protocol that limits Mass attendees to only 10 people.
