Caceres archdiocese gets ready for reopening of churches

The Archdiocese of Caceres in southern Luzon is getting ready to reopen its churches.

Archbishop Rolando Tria Tirona of Caceres called on priests to study the layout of churches and chapels and to ensure that there will be no crowding.

He said the layout of the church is a “must” to facilitate the health and safety measures before the resumption of any parish activities.

The prelate said the archdiocese will observe the health standards in the exercise of the ministry to prevent the spread of the virus.

Parishes are urged to designate ushers and usherettes to facilitate the movement of people inside the church. A seating plan of two meters apart must be imposed.

Archbishop Tirona also urged priests to “proactively respond” to the current situation by “maintaining close coordination” with the local government and health workers.

“Assess the necessity of designating a specific area or setting up tents where medical emergencies can be given attention,” said the prelate.

He said that while the Church is doing everything to transition into the so-called new normal, “the exercise of our faith must remain vibrant as it is essential in the integral well-being of our people.”
