Jaro archdiocese prepares to resume religious services under GCQ

The Archdiocese of Jaro in the central Philippines announced that it will soon resume the public celebration of religious services with the lifting of strict community quarantine in the province.

In a statement, the archdiocese expressed its gratitude to the government for allowing the resumption of religious services under a “general community quarantine.”

Health authorities have placed the province of Iloilo and nearby areas under more relaxed quarantine protocols.

The archdiocese’s statement said the archbishop “will make determinations or adjustments in accordance with the norms issued by our respective civil authorities.”

“We advise the parishes to study and adopt the preparatory procedures indicated in the guidelines that were presented by [church leaders],” it added.

“In this regard, previous norms are still binding, such as Masses are to be celebrated without the presence of the congregation until further notice,” added the statement.

Mayor Jerry Trenas of Iloilo City said they are considering the resumption of religious activities but with only 50 percent capacity in churches.
